First published in 1920,The Mysterious Affair at Styles was Agatha Christie's debut novel and introduced Poirot to an enthusiastic public. He went on to appear in 33 novels and 54 short stories. This production of The Mysterious Affair at Styles was made as a feature-length special to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Agatha Christie's birth in 1890.

Lieutenant Hastings is recovering from war injuries when he accepts an invitation to visit his old friend ohn Cavendish at the family house as Styles St Mary. Staying nearby are a group of Belgian refugees, including Hasting's old acquaintance from the Belgian police force, Hercule Poirot. Before long, the pair are forced to pit their little grey cells against a mind bend on murder.
