This is a London Transport sign-written painted metal sign from Staines Bus Station for London Country Route '460 Slough via Datchet'.
Signs for bus stations were often sign-written by the London Transport Works & Buildings Department because they were often a 'one-off' owing to their non-standard size and this was more cost-effective.
The plate is 300mm wide x 190mm deep and weights around 250g.
Route 460 ran between Slough Station and Staines Central Station via Datchet and Wraysbury.
During the 1970s Route 460 was operated by hired Bournemouth Corporation yellow Roadliner single-deckers owing to vehicle shortages.
The plate is in very good condition with only very tiny minor marks (see photo). The sign-writing is a superb professional standard in the LT Johnston typeface.
It will be sent POST FREE by Royal Mail Recorded Delivery to UK addresses.
